Playlists for long walks will help get you to the end of your trek. There are many times when I find myself hiking alone. Believe it or not, I do not feel bored at all. That is because I usually listen to good music.
Listening to playlists while walking
But why do you need music at all? First of all, it gets you in the mood. This is a physical activity and a long one at that. Listening to the right music will keep your feet moving. A great playlist will also help you meet your walking goals. After all, some people use walking as a form of exercise. The beat of the music can set the pace as you walk.
If you are a beginner, that means you are after a slow stroll. You should look for songs that have 115 to 118 beats per minute. If you want music that is perfect for brisk walking, you should look for 118 to 126 beats per minute. For those who wish for a faster pace, look for music with 130 to 138 beats per minute. In case you are after a power walk, that means you should go for more than 137 beats per minute.Take note that your playlist can be a mixture of different beats per minute. That is how you create playlists for long walks. You can start slow – around 1 or 2 with a slow beat. Then you can progress to the next by choosing songs with a faster beat. The reverse is true when you are nearing the end of your walk.
Playlists from Spotify
If you are like me, you probably do not have the patience to come up with your own playlist. While I do have my own, I prefer variety. That is why I use Spotify to help me with the playlists that I need. Here are some of the playlist creators that you may want to look into when you are going for a long hike.
- Lea Michell. Yes, the Glee star is a lover of nature and has her own hiking playlist.
- Elaine Schmidt. This is more of a collection of acoustic-type of music. The title of the playlist is Let’s Go Hiking.
- DarkPeakJim. The title of his playlist is Wilderness Atmosphere. It is a mixture of movie soundtracks – if that is your thing.
- Mitchell and Brett. The title of the playlist is Mitchell and Brett Go Hiking. It is an awesome mix of pop, punk, and rap tunes.
These are only some of the playlists for long walks that I have used in the past. There are times when I am not really focused on the beats per minute. It all depends on my mood. I hope you can create your own the next time you go for a long walk!
